Happy summer to everyone! Thank you to those who attended the last fundraising dinner, “Edo Night”. Thanks to the three chefs’ delish food, festive Mochi pounding, duette of koto and violin, dancing to the Okinawan sanshin music, your warm hearts and generous spirits, shops and individuals who donated their wares, talents and time. We had a fantastic night AND were able to raise $8,500!!

Selecting a beneficiary of this event was a long process spanning several months. We chose a few potential organizations with much care since we are trusted by donors who may not be able to read Japanese, and therefore, unable to verify the validity of the beneficiary themselves. At the end, we chose Komera No Mori out of numerous organizations specifically catered to children. Komera No Mori was featured in a documentary film, “The Stories I listened to in Fukushima Last Summer”, which we showed at the Fukushima Film Festival in January. When I watched the film, I was glad to have encountered people with so much love. I would like to share the film with you if you have missed the Festival.

 

We are doing what we can. We will be grateful if those of you who attended the Edo Night were able to feel that. Please do what you can, however small. It will reach the people. And, have fun doing it, like us at Fukushima Baby!

フクシマベイベー！、

みなさま、すてきなsummer をお過ごしですか？前 回のフクシマベイベー基金集めディナー”Edo Night” に来てくれた人たちに感謝します！　まずは素晴らしい場所を提供してくれたBerkeley MillsのGeneさん、NPOのZen Playさん、どうもありがとうございました。３人のシェフのごちそう，お祭り気分の餅つき、バイオリンとお琴の演奏、みんなで楽しく踊った三線ミュージック、皆さんが運んでくれたあったかいハート，そして，いろいろな面で寄付をして下さったお店や個人の方達、みんなのおかげてとてもすてきな楽しい夜を過ごすことができました。そしてなんと8500ドルもの寄付が集まりました！

 

私たちはできることをやっています。今回の江戸ナイトディナーパーティーに参加してくれた人たちもこれで何かを感じ取ってもらえたら嬉しいです。そして自分たちができることがあれば、小さなことでもいいですからそれをやってみることによって、フクシマの人たちに思いをよせれるのだと思います。私たちも自分たちができることをできるだけ楽しみながらこれからもやっていくつもりです。

今回いろんな人たちのおかげでこのイベントが成就しました。ありがとうございます。
