Fundraising Party-BECO NIGHT-July 2016

Hello!

We can’t say thank you enough for joining us at our last year’s Fourth Fukushima Baby “BECONIGHT” fundraising event, and support “Ranch of Hope in Fukushima”.  Our event can only take place because of you, chefs and staff!

We raised over $9,000 this year!

We apologize that we could not post this earlier. It took a long time to send the funds to the Ranch of Hope because of complicated paper work required for NPO transfers. Fortunately, it was finally settled and now we are gladly reporting our final balance to you!

Total    $9,204

Food expenses: $2,320

Commission on drafts: $415

Received by Ranch of Hope : $ 6,766 (¥763,915)

Thank you so much!!

Love and Peace!

Yuki Nara

Thank you for those who came to our 4th Fukushima Baby! event. Also thank you to those who could not make it but send us the donation as well. The dinner event was attended by 60 guests and we were able to collect nearly $9,000 in one night. The final tally, after we get all the expenses — food items and supplies mostly — are counted, we’ll update it shortly.

We would also like to thank Gene of Berkeley Mills to open up his beautiful showroom for us to use. And the wonderful chefs, Mie Suzuki, and Kiyoko Usugi & Hiromi Bowers Ui of Moon Plate, and Koji of Orenchi Beyond in SF.

Thank you also Sylvan Bracket of SF Izakaya Rintaro for lending us yakitori grills, donating draft beer. Tonio Lynch of Kermit Lynch Wine for the wine talk and his presentation at the wine bar. Oco Time in Ukiah for selection of premium Sake. And Kirala, Tokyo Fish, Berkeley Bowls, Monterey Market, and Cheese Board, Eiden, Tea Spoon Kitchen for their generous donations.

Thank you, Erika and Susan for their musical talent!  Wesley and Julie for the wonderful sound and voices from Okinawa!

The last of all, big thanks to all the volunteer staff. Thank you! We could not have done it without you.

Love and Peace!

Join us for a gourmet dinner created by fantastic local chefs and the best selection of wines from Kermit Lynch. Enjoy outdoor Yakitori bar supported by a popular SF Izakaya Rintaro and sway to uplifting live music by Erika Oba and Sarah Thompson, and by Wesley Ueunten and Julie Beal. All proceeds will benefit a non-profit organization “Kibo no Bokujo Fukushima”(Ranch of Hope). The ranch is located 9 miles from Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Plant. The rancher and volunteers care for the lives of 330 cows, against the order of Japanese government to kill all farm animals within the affected zone.

Here is a link to a New York Times article on the Ranch of Hope. In the northern region of Japan where Fukushima is, cows are affectionately called Beco. Hence, our July event is named “BECO Night”.
